9th Annual Forum
Fireworks over the Arabian Gulf, dancing water fountains by the Burj al Arab, dinner on the beach. It might seem a break from the ‘norm’ but it’s exactly what the delegates at the GPCA 9th Annual Forum were treated to back in November.
Each year our client aims to make their event bigger and better than the preceding one. This presents us with a fantastic opportunity to exercise our creative flair and excite our audience.
Held over three days and spanning three conference halls, three five-star hotels and an outdoor dining arena, this event comprised plenary and workshop sessions, an exhibition, hospitality suites, registration area, business centre zone and two gala dinners.
You may think that moving such a large audience around so many areas would be a challenge, but it is just the thing our Smoke Signal product was created for. Event information was conveyed in an engaging, informative way, ensuring everyone made it to their sessions on time.
One of the key elements of this particular event is the Curtain Raiser. Over the past three years, our creative team have evolved this to become a spectacular ‘Hollywood-esque’ piece. Incorporating many of the latest techniques in animation, we created a piece that conveys how local regional developments can impact on the global strategies of the petrochemicals industry. The central theme was the Ouroboros – the infamous snake eating its own tail – and how it represents this reciprocal relationship.
The creation of this animated world was a feat of its own. Using light and 3D depth maps, combined with shallow depth of field camera effects, our editor created the atmosphere in which the globe spins. By using particles and expressions to drive this animation, they were able to generate an automated, organic look. The viewer was taken on a truly evolutionary journey.
