Institute of Internal Communciations
Let me transport you to a land far away, where beautiful maidens are captured by wicked Queens then rescued by handsome Princes.
It’s not every day we get to create events that feature fire-breathing dragons, beanstalks climbing to mountain-top castles, jousting knights and leaping frogs but when you get carte blanche on the execution of an event the creative imagination knows no bounds.
The ‘Twisted Fairytales’ theme was chosen to match the gothic setting of The Hub in Edinburgh, home to this year’s Institute of Internal Communications Awards.
Focusing on a selection of classic fairytales, our creative team spared no effort in producing event collateral to immerse the attendees in this unconventional story. Using a regal colour palette of blues and golds, to match the patterning and décor of the venue, with a dark, mysterious edge for that gothic, twisted effect, each fairytale was illustrated into recognisable silhouettes.
Rendered on to a paper texture, to resemble storybook cutouts, the iconic fairytale characters interacted with one another in an animated, looping video.
An elegant cursive font, complementary filigree elements and ornate frames to contain information and footage, also featured. These tied together the antique storybook event programme and PowerPoint template, and the fairytale setting of the digital signage and filmed footage.
The animation of the several supporting films was an entirely separate creative challenge, but one no less appreciated. Each component was drawn on a separate layer and parallax utilised to give the illusion of depth. This also allowed each element to be animated fully. Complete with a thematic voice over, sound effects and magical soundtracks, they really brought our twisted fairytales to life.
This theme was so well received and we’ve had some fantastic feedback, with the IOIC Committee Members commenting “IoIC Scotland have had the pleasure of working with 20/20 Productions since 2012 on the Scottish Communication Awards. The IoIC has a voluntary committee with very little time on their hands, and the team at 20/20 are always fantastically patient, proactive and imaginative in their approach to this somewhat unstructured managerial setup. This year they were equally impressive, injecting creativity and originality into the theme and format of the evening. We are always excited to work with their team and are already looking forward to next year.”
